2004 Wimpy Rossi Pro-Am Quick Facts

WHAT: The 4A rated Wimpy Rossi Pro-Am is the third event on the hotly contested 2004 South African Bodyboarding Association (SABA) circuit. Carrying the highest rating the tournament attracts about 140 entries annually from around South Africa.

Divisions include pro, boys, juniors, men, women, masters, drop knee, under 12 boys, under 16 girls and a development section to provide an affordable opportunity for young rising stars to showcase their talent. The tournament which is in its eighth year is hosted by the Southern KZN Bodyboarding Association.

WHEN: 3 & 4 April, 2004

WHERE: Margate Main Beach, Kwa Zulu Natal South Coast

WHO: The top 9 Pro SABA seeds will be traveling from around South Africa to take part. National Team members Inge Pieters (Margate), Darren Halse (Amanzimtoti) and Southern Cape�s Vaughn Harris will be jetting in from the recent World Surfing Games held in Ecuador. International bodyboarder, Juan Castilla, from Chile has entered the Pro division hoping to give our locals a run for their money.

FORMAT: A new format will be utilized to discourage conservative riding. Only the top 2 wave scores will count.

STATUS: The Wimpy/ Rossi Pro-Am carries a 4A rating and is sanctioned by the South African Bodyboarding Association (SABA).

PRIZES: R10 000 prize purse for the Pro riders; R25 000 worth of product prizes for the other divisions.
