SA Bodyboarding Champs Day 3 & 4

Aden Kleve
7th October 2011
Wednesday was the third day of competition with the waves not being in favour to some of the riders. We saw a couple of upsets in the early rounds.

It all came down to critical wave selection and making the best of what mother nature had to offer.

The swell was predicted to peak on Thursday and as predicted, we had one of the finest days yet with very little wind and very contestable conditions. The waves were pumping through with some big moves going down.

Standouts were guys like Storm Prestwich (SKZN) in his heat busting a huge ARS off a good-sized closeout. Aidan Wilson (WP) was also riding super well, killing his heat and getting great combo scores seeing him through to the next round.

The DK heats were super competitive with good exchange of rides and guys shredding the waves to pieces. Was awesome to see such a high level of riding ... names that stood out were, Daren Halse, Dylan van Tonder and Ryno Turketti.

Waves were 4-5 feet with clean offshore winds hitting the Atlantic Ocean.
