Day 1 of the 25th Annual South African Championships got off to a great start with some solid Dropknee action. The waves seemed to be best in the early rounds of the day.

Standouts in the round 1 dropknee were Ryno Turketti (BOL) posting some high scores and earning 300% which is the highest percentage one can get in a heat. Rheinardt Du Toit (NKZN) also showed a display of good riding.

The Boys surfed their round 1 like champions. There was some amazing riding going down with riders like Tristan Roberts (BOL), Tim Bowman (WP), Michael Mynhardt (SKZN) all of them getting 300% for their heats. Alex Nutt from (SKZN) showed the boys what an 8 year old can do getting some good combo scores in his heat.

As the day proceeded the contest was put on hold due to the waves dropping.

Day 2 started off with all the teams doing a beach cleanup sponsored by Ocean Minded. All the provinces got yellow rubbish bags and walked in a line picking up trash along the beach. It was amazing to see all the provinces coming together and making a difference on Blouberg beach.

After the Beach Cleanup SA Champs hosted two development clinics, the first group from TLC- They assist the underprivileged showing them the fun of an outdoor lifestyle and try keep them off the streets and healthy.

The second group came all the way from Ocean View near Kommetjie. This is a group that Western Province has been working with since the beginning of the year.

The Wowees pitched in and sponsored prizes and lunch for both Clinics, A big thanks to them for helping out. It was an awesome day with all the provinces once again coming together to help the underprivileged kids bodyboard and give them some meaning in their lives.
