Wetsuit manufacturer Agent18 has come on board with South Coast Tourism as the proud sponsors of KZNs longest running bodyboarding event, the South Coast Bodyboarding Classic, which will be held at Margate Beach on May 1 and 2, 2010. The Agent 18 South Coast Bodyboarding Classic is the second stop on the 2010 South African Bodyboarding Association (SABA) and is known for attracting a large field of top class bodyboarders as the venue boasts consistently good waves.

We are really excited about our fresh new sponsors Agent 18 and South Coast Tourism taking over KZNs longest running bodyboarding contest. The event is now into its 14th year on the south coast but in its' eleventh year at Margate Beach and has cemented itself as a highlight on the SABA Tour. This makes it the longest running SABA event in KZN. Entries have been pouring in and we would like to invite members of the public to enjoy the weekend with us at Margate beach, commented event organizer and Southern KZN Bodyboarding Association Chairman Wayne Beekman. Some of the locals have been confirming some decent sandbanks on small and big swell which is promising news so close to the event.

Event divisions include Boys, Juniors, Dropknee, Pro's, Mens, Masters, Grand Masters and Ladies. The Agent 18 South Coast Bodyboarding Classic sees the inclusion of a new division for over 40's namely the Grand Masters division which should feature some of the old school icons and pioneers of the sport in South Africa.

The entry list so far consists of national team members and world class riders such as Darren Halse (Amanzimtoti), Ian Kruger (Cape Town), Derek Footit (Uvongo), Vaughn Harris (Plettenberg Bay), Terence Pieters (Uvongo) and multiple winner of this event in the mens division Wayne Beekman (Manaba Beach).

Bodyboarders that wish to enter may do so by visiting www.sixty40.co.za/southcoastclassic2010 or via Factory7 Surf stores; alternatively please contact Martin Otto on 083 694 7885.

A number of generous product prizes are up for grabs thanks to supporting sponsors such as Power Balance, Lizzard, Spec Savers, Criss Cross Security, Nuform and Factory 7.

The contest briefing will take place at 6.30pm on April 30 at Dougies SportsBar at Douglas Mitchell. Media and members of the public may also attend.
