Margate Beach will come alive on 25-27 April when an expected 120-140 bodyboarders converge on Margate to take part in the 4A annual Wimpy/Rossi Pro-Am. This will be the event's 10th year anniversary with the same anchor sponsors showing their support for the sport of bodyboarding.

"We are really excited for this year's event, not only is it our 10 year anniversary which promises to be the biggest event to date but the sand banks at Margate beach are looking very favourable for bodyboarding. The organising committee is holding thumbs that this remains the case for the event at the end of April. These conditions combined with the country's best bodyboarders will ensure a great showcase of the sport", commented Wayne Beekman, Chairman of the Southern Kwa-Zulu Natal Bodyboarding Association.

The event has a long running history and was initially held for a number of years at St Michaels Beach before it was decided that it would be moved to Margate Beach as Wimpy Margate and Rossi Board Co became the new anchor sponsors. This move proved to be very fruitful as the event started attracting huge crowds of spectators not to mention more entrants from all over the country. Margate's waves have proven to be very consistent over the last 10 years and the event has emerged with somewhat of a big wave reputation on the South African Bodyboarding Association Circuit.

Wimpy Margate Beach and Rossi Board Co have once again put up some impressive cash and product hampers for all the various divisions for this years' competition. Joining them for the 3rd year in a row is Factory 7 and Surf M'Ocean as well as Lizzard for the 2nd year running to make up a total prize purse that will make it the biggest event yet!

The contest will be open to anyone who wishes to enter and entry forms are available www.sixty40.co.za/wimpyrossi2009 or at the Factory7 Surf Shop in Uvongo and Surf M'Ocean Surf Shop in Shelly Beach. One can also keep up to date with the latest happenings and results on the above contest link.

Be sure not to miss this year's event.
