25th April 2008
The Wimpy/Rossi Pro-Am is scheduled for Margate main Beach on 2 4 May. Entry forms are available at www.sixty40.co.za/wimpyrossi2008. The contest briefing will be on 1 May at the Margate Hotel at 6:30pm. This years event looks set to be the biggest yet with Wimpy Margate and Rossi Board Co coming in as the generous anchor sponsors for the 9th year running. Wimpy Margate will see to it that the Pro division receive cash prizes for semis and finals as well as the contest t-shirts and providing food and beverages for the judges and contest officials. Rossi Board Co will be putting a board for all divisions that arent receiving cash as well as some product prizes. The Factory 7 Dropknee division will be a massive draw card for entrants as Factory 7 has put up cash prizes for the finalists as well as other product prizes.

The Wimpy/Rossi contest has a reputation to attract some big waves, which makes for some spectacular rides and high-risk manoeuvres. In light of this, Surf M'Ocean Surf Shop in Shelly Beach will once again be putting up a cash prize of R500.00 to the contestant with the highest scoring manoeuvre or ride of the entire event. This will be open to all divisions.

Other sponsors for the event also include Island Style, Lizzard and Ocean Eyewear who have also given product prizes to make up a very impressive overall prize package for this event. Hosting Province, Southern Natal is looking forward to what looks to be a cracker of an event. A Development Clinic will also be held during the course of the event. This is open to anyone who wishes to join in the fun and give bodyboarding a try. Southern Natal would like to ask ALL entrants who have old or spare boards, fins, or rashvests, to please bring them along and donate them for the development program. This would really help a great deal and is for a very worthy cause.

Don't forget that if this is your first SABA contest for 2008, you need to register on SABA first and pay a once off registration fee. For further information contact Martin Otto 0n 083 694 7885. Entries close at midnight on the 29th April. Be sure not to miss this event.
