An incredible day was lined up with the inaugural tow-out contest driven by Melvin Victor from Yamaha jet ski's, as well as a massive development clinic sponsored by Kumba and Coke, All to be held at Yo-Yo's in Lamberts Bay.

The day started out with semi-finals off the tow-outs, Every rider was hand selected to show off the sport of bodyboarding to its full potential. The riders were Michael Ostler, Mark McCarthy, Terence Pieters, Andrew Raath, Storm Prewstwich, Ethan Nel, Mafoos Lombard and Johan de Goede. The riding was at the top level with huge air reverses, backflips and inverts making the crowd go wild on the beach!

Through to the final was Michael, Terence, Mark and Mafoos. Mark and Micheal seems to be in tune with the set waves and got the biggest ramps of the heat, until the final wave of Terence where he almost clawed his was into first position but just narrowing missing it with a massive loop.

Mark McCarthy took first place winning himself R1000 thanks to RT Coffee, Michael Ostler came 2nd, Terence Pieters 3rd and Mafoos Lombard 4th.

Mark McCarthy threw his board out to the crowd and one lucky development rider went home with a huge smile on his face!

It was an awesome show of bodyboarding enjoyed by everyone there.

The Development clinic were all taught the basics of stretching and then each was taken out for over an hour of fun in the waves with all the main event riders. Smiles, laughs, waves and cool drink was shared among everyone. So much was learnt and some great talent was already being shown in the water.

A huge thanks to Kumba for setting this initiative up and getting involved in such great communities.

Tomorrow is the finals day, so be prepared for some incredible riding and the ultimate Kumba West Coast Classic Champion is crowned.
